“A world where theology is law, the gods are real and ranked, and faith is the only currency that matters.”

Overview

Fadali is a world of faith so total that theology is the organizing principle of all law, governance, science, and daily life. There are dozens of gods, ranging from cosmic scope down to minor spirits most worlds wouldn't classify as divine. All are considered part of one faith.

The Great Five — the five most powerful deities — determine the rank and domain of every god. Their decisions are final. Fadali's theologians have ruled twice that building ships capable of leaving the divine sphere would require permissions from the Great Five that have not been granted. The ruling is contested by exactly no one who wishes to remain in good standing with any god.

The Aasimar

Each Aasimar on Fadali is bound to a metallic wristband that transfers their obedience to whoever holds it. Whoever carries the band commands the Aasimar bound to it, absolutely.

The bands predate the current era. No one alive knows who made them. The dominant culture considers this the natural order.

Factions

The Great Five

Collective governing body of the five highest gods. Not a faction in the mortal sense — they don't negotiate, they rule. Not convened in full session since the 7th Era.

The Tidewrought Order

Clerics and paladins executing the Great Five's rulings in mortal governance. Bureaucratic, devout, occasionally ruthless. Jurisdiction covers all matters touching faith — which on Fadali means all matters.

The Unranked

Loose network of cults devoted to gods too minor for formal ranking. Not illegal — simply unacknowledged. Watched but not prosecuted unless they claim rankings they haven't received.

The Bandkeepers

Merchants and brokers specializing in trade of Aasimar bands. Maintain records of ownership, facilitate transfers. Their records are the most comprehensive documentation of Aasimar populations in the system.

The Questioners

Scholar faction that asks theological questions the Great Five haven't answered. Don't advocate heresy — just note gaps in the divine record. Many temples consider this sufficiently threatening.
