Primal 9 · Tidal World · Entirely Grounders
Veshari is a world of extreme tidal cycles driven by orbital resonance. Every 40 days, the tides surge catastrophically, reshaping coastlines, flooding plains, and restructuring the magical environment.
Casters who specialize in one tradition find their power rises and falls with the surge — and are therefore not trusted with anything important. Generalists thrive. Space travel was theologically ruled out by a pre-contact civilization and the ruling has never been revisited.
Entirely Grounders. No off-world peoples of any significance. The space travel ruling predates contact with Skylords.
Governing body of Veshari, composed of representatives from coastal and oceanic communities. Their authority peaks during surge periods and declines during calm periods, which they consider the correct relationship between governance and the world.
Veshari's most advanced institution tracks the biological and magical changes to the coastline and ocean biome following each surge. The world's foremost experts on tidal ecology and the most technically sophisticated organization on a world that otherwise resists specialization.
The committee overseeing the one orbital station Veshari maintains, built by outside parties who wanted a presence near this world. The Committee has never let a Veshari native board the station. They have not explained why.
A tradition of Undine and Merfolk who claim the ability to speak with entities that live in the deepest parts of the ocean, below the tidal surge lines. Their claims have not been verified. Their political influence is significant regardless.
